Copenhagen Dining Week

Copenhagen Dining Week is so amazing! It gives you a chance to go to some really great restaurants and get a fixed menu for 200 danish kroner for a three course meal! You just buy "tickets" online (including booking) Of course all the Michelin star restaurants and other top restaurants get sold out extremly fast!

This week though I managed to get tickets for Kung Fu 2 & Aamans Etablissement and I'm also taking my parents to Cofoco on Sunday. In other words...this week is filled with restaurant visits!! Yay!
Today I had an amazing dumpling and spring-roll starter and a really delicious ice cream desert at japanese restaurant Kung Fu 2. The main-course was a bit dissapointing though...actually quite bland and too "meaty".

I think there are still some tickets for odd times left at diningweek.dk! You should try it!!

Boyish tailoring

Danish fashion doesn't really excite me much. It seems everything is all dark, very deconstructured and well just not me. I still love Henrik Vibskov and Stine Goya for the aestethics and the arty beautiful shows they put on, but the clothes doesn't interest me personally. The Vibskov clothes just doesn't seem very wearable and I've tried wearing Goya-clothes (a dress and a few cardigans) and although I love how they look on others (try red-haired tall skinny Stine Goya look-alike models) but it's not for me. The fit is simply horrible on me.

One designer that continues to surprise me though is Silas Adler from Soulland. I just wish he’d make clothes for girls!! Some years ago (one of his first shows) I wrote a review on his clothes that….erhm….wasn’t very positive for The Fashionspot. Ever since I’ve grown so fond of him though. I love that he is able to give a tailored touch to “street” and continue to evolve but still keep his feet solidly planted in his signature style.

It’s simple, wearable and the apparent contradiction between tailoring and street is so so fascinating. Really looking forward to see his show at Copenhagen Fashion Week on Friday!!

Velvet Dresses

Winter has (finally) arrived in Copenhagen and it's icy cold. I want to indulge in warm cosy velvet dresses likle the ones below. Velvet is such a wonderful material. Five years ago I wouldn't be seen dead in it but now I absolutely love it. I guess the appeal for me is the fact that it tends to make my outfits look even more catholic school-girlish :-)

Today I went to LYST in Jægersborggade to have brunch with a couple of good friends.
LYST is one of the new cafes in Jægersborggade. The atmosphere is laid back and the room is filled with really cool vintage furniture. I recommend everyone to go and try their brunch!

Afterwards we went for a walk down Jægersborggade and found the jewelry store LADYFINGERS

LADYFINGERS is a modern jewelry store where you will find handmade and unusual jewelry from their own workshop.

I bought a very cool necklace - although the store is mostly for women they have some unisex items...

I talked to one of the girls working there and they are thinking of starting a male collection - I look forward to that!

For the past year or so I've been redecorating my apartment and I absolutely love every single item....from the thrifted plates and kitschy knick-knacks to the cute teak-furniture and botanical books that I've borrowed from my mom. It's vintage but the mix of decades is eclectic and not co-herent at all....still I love it to bits. I even miss it if I'm gone for one day :-) If only it would be situated in San Fransisco and had a front-porch it would be perfect.....

Love The Kooples

I recently went to Paris for a long weekend... I love that city and all the great food you can get there. One of the days we went to Versailles which was a very interesting day. Very beautiful!

Of course I went shopping and I found my new favorite brand, The Kooples! It's a shame we don't have it in Denmark - yet...

Copenhagen Fashion Week is here!

Today I was kindly invited to attend the graduate show from the Danish Design School. The show was held at the City Hall - beautiful venue.

I was lucky and ended up sitting front row so I had a perfect view - and got a really nice goodie bag.

The graduates held an amazing show and most of the clothes was wearable...

Look out for designer Louise Boye Andersen, Lisa Våglund and Kamilla Hoffmann to name a few... Check out Made in school

Last day at Distortion!
I love the good atmosphere around Distortion but yesterday I went to the beach to relax... Later I had a good dinner and then met with Jenny and some colleagues. They had had a picnic in Ørstedsparken.
Distortion The Final Party was at "Den brune Kødby" It was really crowded in front of the entrance where we were... People raved on a Carlsberg truck!

Liebemarlene is probably the one blog that I've been following loyally for the longest. My favorite day of the week was always when she updated her eBay-store and I have tons of vintage Liebemarlene clothes in my wardrobe.

Liebemarlene was the one that sparked my interest in Lula Magazine, in Zooey Deschanel, the Australian and New Zeeland-based labels and of course Peter Pan collars.

Today she opened up her own "real" webstore called Silent Sundays with the perfect mix of handpicked vintage clothing (still carrying the same magical Liebemarlene touch) and some of Rhiannons favorite designer-labels such as T.B.A, Family Affair and Secret Squirrel. Best news of 2011 so far!

Met Gala and an update

Yesterday the annual Costume Institute Gala was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Another reason I should have jumped on a plane to New York the other day!

The Gala was a tribute to Alexander McQueen. A lot of beautiful dresses was seen on the red carpet - notice Karen Elson.

I also loved the dress Ashley Olsen was wearing. Vintage Dior!

Yesterday the English Royal Wedding was on and the media went crazy. I must admit that Kate looked beautiful in her Alexander McQueen wedding dress!
This morning I browsed the Alexander McQueen website. If I was in New York I would go to the Metropoltitan Museum of Art to see the exhibition! Maybe I should take the next plane?

I'm going shopping for a birthday present today and this would be the Alexander McQueen outfit I would wear. I'm normally not into white pants but I like the details on these.

OK my obsession about Twentysevennames has probably gone a bit overboard. I just love the effortless and casual girly styles. Wearing socks in your Birkenstocks has never looked better :-)

A friend and I had a conversation about our mutual facsination of Twentysevennames and socks in flats during the Easter-holidays. We both realized we actually dress like we did in 4th grade.

Yesterday was a great Saturday. We went to lunch at 42 RAW to catch up and taste their amazing raw lasagna.

After lunch we went to the Danish Design Center and looked at their exhibition to escape the rain. We had a nice cup of Kusmi 'Sweet Love' Tea

Later on Jenny went to have milkshakes with a friend and ended up having dinner with her.

First of all I would like to thank all of you for supporting our project! It commits, and we will do what we can to make this blog awesome...

Yesterday I was at a champagne reception. Yet another night at Pussy Galore's.

Afterwards we went to Rust, a disco just around the corner. It was a fun night and free bar for us.
Among the people I was with was this upcomming designer who we will follow on the blog. We look forward to your collection Minka!

I met this funky chic - she looked really cool and I really liked her style.

Today I woke up and the sun was shining. A really beautiful day.

Today was daylight-saving day and officially the start of spring in Denmark. I can't wait for summer! Copenhagen is SO beautiful during summer.

A new week is knocking on the door and I'm excited! Friday I'm going to a dinnerparty at Jenny's. Saturday I'm looking forward to a huge party at Hotel Skt. Petri. The party is called DIP and there'll be a lot of performers.

16.00 Friday after work we decided we deserved a cocktail after a long week and went to Pussy Galore's for the best Pimms in Copenhagen

17.00 One drink turned into a few and a long chat

9.00 Saturday I woke up surprisingly early and realized I still have a Christmas plexi-star hanging in my window

11.00 Saw that a Raw-food café will open in my street! Hurray!
